Using WPA2 with Intel Wireless LAN 2100

My thinkpad X31 has a Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter and according to this product brief, it is Wi-Fi CERTIFIED for WPA although it's a IEEE 802.11b card.

I upgraded its Windows driver to the latest version 1.2.5.37 and the Intel PROSet software to 7.1.47 as found on this intel download page. Afterwards, I can choose WPA2-Personal as security mode and AES-CCMP as encryptionn algorithm in the PROSet software as shown in the screenshot below.

Hi, I have the same problem as in the post. A Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter and following your advice I install 1.2.5.37 and 7.1.47.

But it don't work, I can't choose the WPA2 option.
I would be thanked if you help me.

This worked like a charm. Thank you for posting this. I've looked off and on for drivers for this device in an old Compaq nc6000 that would do exactly this, but have always failed.

Now everything on my network is doing WPA2 / AES. Fantastic!

Hi. I've got mine the 2100 3A to authenticate with the drivers installation alone, version 1.2.5.37 - "http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=11918&ProdId=944&lang=eng". The utility/connection manager version 7.1.4.7 is not necessary for WPA2 authentication.
Thank you for sharing this blog entry!
